So if you are keen to improve your to-do list, whilst helping you stay organised.I love a to-do list and I have a weekly to-do list to help stay organised. I definitely say I am most productive when I am getting stuff done daily. Mastering your to-do list is essential for you to get your daily task down and complete effectively.

Steps on how to organise your to-do list:

There are many ways of mastering your to do list, and here are some of the most important ways of going sooo.

Start off simple – small and simple

The first step on how to improve your to-do list is to start off small. Starting off simple may mean you need to start off with simplifying all your thought, write everything down on a piece of paper. When you simplify a to-do list like this, it basically you just writing down all your thoughts and things you need to do so it clear in your mind what you got to do. Keeping the daily tasks will allow you to stay organised to help improve your daily to-do list.

Define the purpose of Tasks are

Defining what purpose of each task is very important because this is a way to improve your to-do list for the better. For each task, you need to figure out the result you are trying to achieve.

This helps you master prioritising each task which is something you should do after simplifying your to-do list. Defining your purpose makes it more likely to achieve each task. I would recommend you creating a must-do list to make sure all the important task get done first. When working on a to-do list with no purpose or reasoning of when you need to get these tasks done, you will end up avoiding all the important task that will bring you the results you need. Entail wasting your time doing work that is no urgent and will not help reach your goals.

While working this way may make it feel like you getting work done and being productive but this is only short term. Think of it long term though, you will be no closer to achieving your goals.

For example what I do for myself:

  • Working out twice weekly – to get into a stable routine going that I am able to stick too.
  • Stick to saving budget – to be able to work on getting my house as well as lessen the number of times I shop for clothes within the month.

These are all clear examples of goals which all have a purpose to get me to my desired long term goals.

Get your actions clear

So far most of the work you’ve done has helped release your thoughts and getting your to-do’s list written down on paper and making sure the urgent task get done so you are able to achieve your goals.

To improve your to-do list, you will need to write done the action and steps you need to take to be able to achieve your goals. By doing this, you need to get into as much detail as possible underneath each go you have. The more detail you get into gives you a clearer understanding of how you going to reach and achieve those goals.

Make sure you don’t underestimate the time it takes you to get to your goals and how difficult it may be.

For Example, One of my major goals is creating incomes that’s consistent from Blogging this year, the steps I am going to take to get this done:

  • Become more consistent in blogging weekly
  • Write and send out weekly emails to subscribers about offer and blog post created
  • Create an Ebook that sells
  • Make more offers for my audience to be able to subscribe too
  • Work on improving my SEO and gathering Backlinks
  • Focus on generating traffic through Pinterest and socials
  • Start writing guest posts to help gather more traffic.

It may seem quite boring and may drag a bit to be writing down every single step you to do. Doing this will ensure you get what you need to do done. As well as being clear on what you need to do.

Some of the task above for me is going to be quite scary. But I know once I sit down and write what I need to do, I know it won’t seem so daunting.

Add a Time Duration and Update your calendar – another good way of mastering your to do list

Another way to improve your to-do list is by adding a time duration to each of your tasks. As well as, adding these task to your calendar.

This step is very important which will seriously help improve your to-do list while helping you stay organised and get to the goals that you need to reach.

If you write down the time duration of how long it will take to do your task. Simply writing down next to the task on your calendar – by writing next to the task 15, 30, 45, 60 mins and so on. This will make it easier to add the tasks to your calendar giving you a set time to finish them.

Updating your calendar is another way to improve your to-do list. This is the part which makes the most meaningful sense because it means you have scheduled the time. Fitting it into your weeks giving you a reminder of what you need to work towards.

Adding your tasks from your list into your calendar, make sure before doing that you have a good idea of your other commitments you have. Such as work, exercise, downtime, seeing friends and family and spending time with loved ones. Doing this means you won’t be too much work and allowing you to balance a good work-life balance.

If you are not doing this, you have to make the conscious decision of what time within the day, you can unwind and relax, switch off and spend time with your loved ones.  As well as, being able to take breaks between each task to allow time for you not to feel overwhelmed by everything going on or what you are doing.

    Adding a time duration to my tasks has been a game-changer for me. When I see how much time the task requires, it’s easier for me to take action and I feel less overwhelmed.

    Thank you for sharing this! I love making a list at the start of each week to give myself some structure to what I have to do. Some great tips here , usually I give myself all week but I think I might try being more specific with my time duration.

    I agree with everything! I cannot live without a to-do list so I can prevent overwhelm and stress. But as you said, I also allocate time for each task, it makes my schedule a lot more bearable and achievable. Thanks for all the tips!
